Students read and learned the story of Edward Enninful. For lots of them this was their first non-American Black author and fashion editor to come across.

It’s not easy introducing students the world of fashion, especially when most of them have expressed interest in majoring in a STEM field.

This is an ode to social sustainability, mental wellness, and a healthy self-esteem. That’s what we need in a such a difficult yet enchanting industry like fashion media.

Two lessons down, many more forward. Fashion Media Literacy is going pretty well in my humble opinion.

I’ll be an adjunct lecturer for the first time, while being a freelance journalist. Now what?

I can’t say if I’ll ever be able to live here forever or if my career will allow me to explore my passions in other ways. I just know that my chosen family (my romantic partner and trusted friends) and passions (fashion, journalism, and other hobbies) are here in this country. For the time being, I’m savoring and completing my transformational journey in approaching an American lifestyle from the perspective of a European one.

I’m proud of my work at the end of the day. I even gave lectures sharing my expertise and experiences, along with formatting a mentorship program here at Fashion On The Beat. Nobody sees the sleepless nights, the fast typing done in cafes, the calls and homework I do between hopping on one train and another. There’s a lot going on behind everything I do, with the intention of setting people, especially young women of color, up to success.
